The Foley Shield, North Queensland Rugby League's symbol of supremecy has proved a breeding ground for Queensland and Australian players including Kerry Boustead, Gene Miles and Greg Dowling. Whatever is in the water at Sarina has helped the tiny but mighty Crocodiles to produce a string of top players including Dale Shearer, Martin Bella, Wendel Sailor and Kevin Campion. The Foley Shield also produced legendary locals like Frank and Vern Daisy the who were at the heart of those mighty Mount Isa teams that swept all before them. The Foley Shield is rich in legend and will always be talked about by players and supporters who willed their team to play in the final each September.
