KEVIN CAMPION

Kevin Campion is another Sarina product who drank deeply from the well that has produced a string of quality rugby league players. Whatever is in that water propelled him to play 241 games at NRL or Super League level, two Tri-Series Super League games for Queensland, four State of Origin Games for Queensland and four World Cup games for Ireland. A journeyman by any measure, playing for six clubs, he made his mark wherever he played making four grand finals with Saint George in 1996, the Broncos 1998 and 2000 and the New Zealand Warriors in 2002. He was unlucky that his weary body didn't get to play in another grand final with the Cowboys in 2005 with many suggesting that he was one of the reasons the Cowboys made the season decider. And who could argue. His efforts at the Warriors caght the eye of the Union mad New Zealand public with his heroics including playing on with 20 stitches in his head in the grand final qualifying game in 2004. In a memorable game for the Gold Cost Seagulls in 1994, Campion scored two tries and kicked a goal in the Seagulls defeat of Premiers Brisbane. He retired at the end of the 2004 season with his mark well and truly left on the game.
