Henry "Frosty" Benton

Henry "Frosty" Benton played in the very first year if the Foley Shield competition in 1948 after representing North Queensland for the previous two years. He immediately stamped the Foley Shield competition's worth on the rugby league world by being selected to tour to England with the Kangaroos at the end of the season. This was after he had been chosen to play for North Queensland and Queensland Country after continually dominating opposition hookers. Benton coached the Townsville team to a Foley Shield Final win over Cairns in 1949 after again representing Queensland during the season. The following year, 1950, Benton had another taste of international football when he was chosen on the North Queensland team to play the touring Great Britain side.
