| Ned andrews had moved to Mackay from Newcastle to coach the Foley Shield team for the 1950 season. He had represented New South Wales in 1948 and continued his association with the interstate matches by playing for Queensland. | Andrews was also chosen in the Maroon's team which played Great Britain giving a brilliant display in Queensland's 15-14 win in Brisbane.
